 Ashley's Review

I've been waiting so long for the end of this trilogy! I've wanted to know how Darlena deals with Hecate and her Red magic powers, and learn even more about this great world that Jen McConnel has created! Is Lena able to save the world, or do Hecate's plans come to fruition?

There's so much at stake in Triumph of Chaos, and the title had me worried about the outcome from the very beginning! Lena has so much on her plate, especially after the events of Gods of Chaos, and I can't even imagine having to make some of the decisions she has to make. There were times though, when I felt like she was making terrible decisions or spending more time whining than actually trying to come up with a solution. To me, Lena was much more annoying in this book that in either of the other two books.
Since Lena spends so much time trying to fix things and/or run away from her responsibilities, this felt like a much slower book. I was still frantically turning pages to find out what was going to happen, but it just seemed like there was very little going on other than Lena complaining and trying to reverse everything that had happened. Izzy and her coven have huge problems they needed to deal with, and I really wish we had seem more of that (even though I know this is Lena's story and not Izzy's). I just really liked Izzy and would have really enjoyed seeing even a few of the events from her perspective.

We're reunited with characters from the previous books and get to learn a little bit more about them, and we're introduced to a few new characters that I wish we had more time to get to know. Old relationships are broken and new ones are formed, and I really enjoyed watching all of the different people in Lena's life meet and interact. I especially enjoyed learning more about the gods and goddesses who want to help Lena!

Overall, this book was a decent ending to a great series. I still have so many unanswered questions though, and I felt like there was just a huge chunk of information missing when I finished reading. I still think anyone who has read the rest of the Red Magic series would enjoy this book, and would definitely recommend the series to any lovers of YA Fantasy books, especially if you like books that reimagine popular mythologies! I really hope Jen decides to write a novella or even some scenes from Izzy's perspective though, because I'd love to see more in this word, especially from a fresh viewpoint! 3/5.
